A grant from the Air Cadet Charity has enabled 2248 (Rutland) Squadron to launch a robotics programme, giving cadets hands-on STEM experience with 15 VEX IQ kits. The project will soon expand into coding and advanced robotics, with a syllabus planned for wider rollout across the Wing later this year.

The Air Cadet Charity is launching a new Adventure Training Equipment Grant on 29 May 2026 to help RAF Air Cadet units buy shared outdoor activity kit. The funding aims to reduce financial barriers and give more cadets access to adventure training opportunities.

The Air Cadet Charity joined over 700 cadets and volunteers at the South and East Midlands Wing Field Day at RAF Wittering, delivering a popular STEM challenge and seeing funded equipment already making a real impact.

BAE Systems has pledged £30,000, allowing the Air Cadet Charity to direct support where it’s most needed, as demand continues to exceed available funds.

Three new dedicated grant programmes will be introduced to deal with high-demand and high-cost areas. This is intended to provide standardised equipment specifications and to promote faster funding decisions for units.

The Serco Foundation has awarded a £15,000 grant to the Air Cadet Charity to help support the National Air and Space Camp in 2026. The funding expands access to advanced aerospace learning and supports the next generation of air and space talent.
